The Americas
For our friends in North America and anyone willing to make the travel to an amazing country, Jugger has landed in Canada in the form of some plucky Irish Juggers keen to get the sport going. But that isn't all, on landing the discovery was made that some Canadian locals in Halifax, Nova Scotia already have plans underway to bring the sport to life.So if you are in Vancouver, or Halifax or just somewhere within shouting distance get in touch and join in the fun.
Places really far to the south
So now to news that is really close by for me and a little bit further away for the rest of you,big things are happening in the Australian Neighbourhood for Jugger.
Jugger in the Steel City
Jugger in Australian has seen a third city form a league in the form of the Steel City League in Newcastle, New South Wales. Juggers from Brisbane and Canberra converged on the city for some demonstration games and a small tournament that was enthusiastically received by the players in the new city who are showing a keen interest in building up their own teams and have already traveled to train with groups outside of Newcastle to pick up some tips.New Zealand joins the ranks
Not content to pop up in another city in Australia Jugger fever has spread to New Zealand where the Northland Jugger League has gotten to a running start piecing together the game from the internet (German and Australian rules combined) the Juggers in Whangarei, a couple of hours north of Auckland, are getting into the game with exceptional enthusiasm. Plans are already afoot for Australian Juggers to head over later this year and join in the fun.Rules under review
The rules for Australian jugger are currently undergoing and extended review and some serious debate amongst the Jugger cities here, for the third or fourth time since Jugger first arrived in Australia 14 years ago the rules are being pulled apart, turned upside down to see if anything falls out and needs to be replaced. So if you would like to see what is being discuss come and visit us HERE (In English).Upcoming tournaments
As usual if you are in Europe (especially Germany or Spain) there are plenty of tournaments to be found but two in particular that I wish I could get to are the Metallsvenskan Jugger Turnering in Sweden and the Irish International which is fast attracting teams including the first ever team from the USA to travel abroad and visiting Jugger Mercenaries from as far as Australia and Costa Rica (from the rumours that I've been hearing). So keep an eye on these events and as ever if there is Jugger nearby go and play, and if there isn't START A TEAM!Remember if you hear anything that is worth sharing with the rest of the Juggers that read my little blog drop me an e-mail HERE or come find me on Facebook, because remember that this year I'm relying on all of you to share what is happening in the world of Jugger while I'm awaiting the arrival of the next Jugger generation.
